Thomas Tuchel has been off to a great start to his managerial stint at Stamford Bridge. The notorious Chelsea defence, which did not have any reinforcement during transfer-market, have been operating well in recent years.

Tuchel has been off to a great start to his managerial stint at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has spoken about how the team has improved defensively under new manager Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard as the new Blues boss in January and there has been significant progress under the German’s tutelage.

The former PSG boss has been undefeated in all of his 10 games in charge, which included the wins against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Tottenham and Liverpool.

Azipilicueta has played a huge role in it, starring in all of the games under Tuchel bar the FA Cup game against Barnsley.

The Spaniard appears to have revived his career after being overlooked by former manager Lampard.

Azpilicueta has revealed the success behind Chelsea’s impressive defence – only two goals have been conceded in the last 10 games –  and also reflected on their win against Liverpool in the Premier League.

“When you concede goals, it normally goes to the defenders and when you don’t concede it goes to the defenders as well but we work as a team with our structure.

“Obviously it is the job of the defenders to defend but we have to highlight the work from everybody and the attacking players did an amazing job.

“Liverpool ran a lot and had a lot of intensity so if you don’t match them then it’s difficult to win but we did really well.”

The Blues will next face Everton, who are trailing them by point in the fifth place, on Monday.

The team is improving and we’re looking forward to the future but on Monday we have another challenge against Everton so now it is well done for the team but we have to focus only on that.
