Players urged to sacrifice wages

Inter Milan managed to win their first Scudetto in over a decade last week, but they’re going through a serious financial crisis.

According to reports, the Italian outfit have urged the players to give up two months of their wages so that the club can save around £22 million.

Most clubs across the world have faced major financial losses because of the Coronavirus crisis and the absence of fans.

It will be interesting to see whether Inter Milan can cope with their financial problems this summer.

An alternative would be to sell some of their key players in order to balance the books. Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez and Milan Skriniar have all been linked with moves away from Inter Milan in recent months.

Martinez’ agent on his future

Meanwhile, Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez is yet to sign a contract extension with Inter Milan.

The player’s agent Alejandro Camano claims that Martinez is happy in Milan, having won a Scudetto this season. Still, they’re waiting to gauge the club’s current situation before making any commitments.

The striker has two years left on his contract with the Italian club, and it will be interesting to see if the Italian outfit can convince him to sign a long term deal this summer.

The player’s agent said: “I can’t promise anything, at present, it is useless to make predictions: we, like others, first want to understand what the future of the club will be. I reply by saying that I am not talking to any club: Lautaro is a Nerazzurri player, and he still has a two-year contract; Inter is still the priority. However, as mentioned, it is a question of understanding what will happen from a corporate point of view.”
