Tottenham Transfer: Konsa link, Doherty slammed, Zidane decision regarding Bale

Gareth Bale-Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham linked to Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa

Tottenham Hotspur are thought to be interested in signing the Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa.

The 23 year old has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League and it is no surprise that the top teams want to sign him.

Apparently the likes of Liverpool are keen on signing the English defender as well and Villa are hoping to tie him down to a new contract in order to fend off the interest in him.

The 23 year old is still quite young and he’s likely to get better with coaching and experience.  A move to Tottenham would allow him to play under a world-class manager like Jose Mourinho.

Whelan slams Matt Doherty

Meanwhile former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan has slammed the performance of Matt Doherty since his move to Spurs from Wolves.

“He’s somebody that doesn’t seem have settled easily into life in London or at Tottenham. It is worrying because they haven’t got an abundance of right-backs there,” he told.

“You really need that wing-back to be everything because that is what’s so important to their side right now.

“It’s not only defending but getting forward, overlaps getting into good areas, showing that quality.

“When you’ve got one player not doing it on one side, it weakens you.”

The experienced right-back was expected to replace the likes of Aurier in the starting lineup but he has proven to be an unreliable option for Jose Mourinho so far.

Despite making a mark in the Premier League with Wolves, he has struggled to fit in at Tottenham and it will be interesting to see if the Premier League side decide to splash out on another defender at the end of the season.

Zidane decision on Bale future

Meanwhile Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has decided that he does not want Gareth Bale back at the Spanish club.

The Welshman will have one year left on his deal at the end of this season and it will be interesting to see if Los Blancos can find a new club for him.

The 31 year old has not done enough to earn a permanent move to Tottenham and it remains to be seen where he ends up next season.
