Arsenal are looking to sign the Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst this summer.

According to reports, they are already planning for life without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabonese striker is yet to sign a new deal with the club.

Weghorst has done well in Germany and he has been linked with Newcastle as well.

It will be interesting to see if the Gunners manage to agree on a fee for him this summer.

They need to add goals to their side and the likes of Lacazette and Pepe have disappointed. It remains to be seen how Weghorst adapts to English football if he makes the move.

The 27-year-old has scored 33 goals in his last two seasons with the Bundesliga outfit and he will be available for a fee of around £32m.

A club with Arsenal’s resources can easily afford him.

The Gunners need to return to the Champions League soon and they will have to invest in quality players like Weghorst.

It will be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta is backed in the transfer market this summer.

Arsenal will have to submit a lucrative offer to the player though. Weghorst is a Liverpool fan and he wants to play for the Reds.

Recently, the player admitted: “I always found Liverpool very special. I still get Goosebumps from ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. There are other great English clubs too, and I always liked Milan because so many Dutch played there. I am ambitious and want to get ahead. Maybe at some point play at another club, whether in Germany or in England? But at the moment it is still far away. I feel good and try to achieve the maximum here.”
