Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has urged the board to back him with funds in the transfer market this summer.

Recently, Chelsea activated Timo Werner’s £53million release clause and Arteta doesn’t want his team to get left behind.

The Arsenal manager wants to compete with the likes of City, United and Chelsea. In order for that to happen, he will need to bring in quality players.

Moreover, after comfortably thrashing Charlton 6-0 in their first behind-closed-doors friendly at the Emirates two weeks ago, the Gunners were stunned by Championship side Brentford in a 2-3 defeat last Wednesday.

As per reports, he has made a transfer demand to Raul Sanllehi and Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey is a key target for the Gunners.

Arsenal are under financial stress right now and it will be interesting to see if they can land their top targets this summer.

Partey would be a superb addition to Arsenal’s midfield. He would add presence, defensive cover and technicality to the side.

Meanwhile, Arteta wants to renew David Luiz’s contract as well.

The Brazilian will be a free agent soon and the Gunners boss wants to keep him for another season.

As per reports, Arteta loves Luiz’ influence on and off the pitch and he considers the defender a role model at the club.

Recently he said: “I’m really happy with David. I want to keep him here with us. He’s been a key role model for me since I joined. I like what he produces on the pitch. I like his influence around the players and the club. I’d love to keep him.”

In other news, Arsenal are now prepared to keep Dani Ceballos at the club for another year. Initially there were reports that the Spaniard would be allowed to leave on the loan spell is over, but the Gunners now want to extend his loan deal.

Arsenal also have to secure their academy grown Bukayo Saka with a long term contract. Though there have been some news of contact discussion, it has been reported that an agreement could not be reached. At the same time there have been interest from Premier League clubs for the teenage sensation who can play anywhere on left flank.

Finally, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta seems optimistic that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will extend his contract with the club.

The Gabon star has been Arsenal’s best player since joining the club and it would be important to keep him.
