Borussia Dortmund want Ansu Fati to replace Sancho-Barcelona

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati as a replacement for Jadon Sancho. Sport reported that Dortmund are desperately looking for alternative options as Jadon Sancho is all set to move away from Bundesliga.

The Spanish newspaper claim that the Bundesliga giants have been scouring the market for a talented youngster to fill the space of Sancho, who is a £120million target for Manchester United and Chelsea this summer. The price tag is not negotiable but that did not discourage Premier League giants.

And after landing wonderkids including Ousmane Dembele and Erling Haaland in recent years, 17-year-old Fati could be their next target. They were also reportedly looking for Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, who is negotiating for a deal with his current club.

Ansu Fati has immense potential and he was an easy inclusion in Barcelona forward line despite the section being crowded with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann. He had moved to senior team in beginning of current season only and enjoyed a breakthrough season. Barcelona did not even allow him to play ‘Spain Under 17’ as he was required for Barca. It is now clear how much Barca would expect for Fati, although Sport claim that the club would only consider a deal if a buy-back clause is included.

Fati became the club’s second-youngest player when he played in a LaLiga against Real Betis, and scored his first professional goal a few days later. He had everything required to serve Barcelona for a long time, specially when Messi is retired few years down the line.

He has made 24 appearances for the first team in all competitions this term, netting five goals and providing one assist. The numbers may not look great but the talent is, specially when Barca have struggled to develop youngsters into first team stars in recent years. So they are unwilling to let Fati leave unless they can buy him back for a pre-agreed price at a later date.

Dortmund see Fati as an exciting talent who could follow in Sancho’s footsteps if he is given the right amount of playing time in Germany.

The England winger is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top transfer target, but it could as well be Chelsea or he might have his run at Santiago Bernabeu in next season.
