The La Liga heavyweights are keeping tabs on the 28-year-old

Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on David Alaba, who has rejected a new contract offer from Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old is in the final season of his contract, and the Bavarians are said to have offered him a new deal with an improvised salary of 11m euros per year.

But, Alaba has turned down the proposal, thereby putting Barcelona and Real Madrid on red alert.

Alaba has been a massive success at Bayern for a decade, contributing to many of their title-wins over the course.

A renowned left-back, Alaba also excelled as a central defender under Hansi Flick last season, in which the Bavarians achieved a continental treble.

Despite facing an uncertain future, Alaba has recently said that he is solely focused on winning the titles for Bayern for the time being.

“The hunger is always there. I play football so that I can be on top at the end of the day. I feel very comfortable in Munich, it has been my home for twelve years. I have experienced some very nice moments there.”

The Austrian defender is also of interest to Serie A champions Juventus, who are looking to upgrade their defence.

Barcelona have been in the lookout for a new left-back for a while to replace the long-running Jordi Alba while Junior Firpo had been underwhelming since his move last summer.

Real Madrid currently have an in-form Ferland Mendy but would look to strengthen their defence by signing Alaba.

While three of the top European clubs are involved in a tug of war, it will be interesting to see which of them would sign Alaba.
