Bayer 1-2 Bayern: Lewandowski double puts Bayern to the top of Bundesliga

Robert Lewandowski-Bayern Munich

The Polish striker scored a brace including an injury-time winner to break the hearts of Leverkusen

Bayern Munich have cruised to the top of Bundesliga after beating Bayer Leverkusen 2- 1, with Robert Lewandowski scoring the winner in stoppage time.

The hosts were the better side in the first half as they caused so much trouble to Bayern’s defence. Leverkusen also had their lead inside the first quarter of the game after Patrik Schick netted a brilliant left-footed volley, leaving no chance for Manuel Neuer. The Czech striker, who moved to BayArena in the summer, has been impressive this season, scoring four goals so far.

It was Lewandowski once again to find the equaliser for the Bavarians thanks to a collision between Jonathan Tah and Hradecky.

Bayern were at their best in the second half but a goal was duly missing.

The game progressed to the injury time while every sign indicated that a draw was the likely outcome.

However, Lewandowski had another idea after netting the winner in injury time.

The goal once again happened as a result of the shambolic defence especially from Leverkusen centre-back Tah, who was also responsible for conceding the first goal.

The win has taken Bayern to the top of the table while Leverkusen have been forced a place down after suffering the first defeat of Bundesliga this season.

Bayern are up against Mainz next when they return from the holiday break.
