Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski will be a free agent in the summer of 2023, and the German Bundesliga club could look to sell him at the end of this season if the player refuses to sign an extension with them.

According to a report from Marca, the German club have a policy of offering one-year extensions for players over the age of 30. They are willing to offer Lewandowski a one-year renewal with his current wages.

Bayern could also decide to make an exception for the Polish international and offer him a two-year extension only if he agrees to a pay cut.

It will be interesting to see whether the 33-year-old is keen on taking a pay cut to stay with the Bavarian giants for the next two years.

Lewandowski is undoubtedly the best striker on the planet right now, and he was recently voted as the FIFA player of the year as well.

Losing him at the end of this season could prove to be a devastating blow for Bayern Munich, and it remains to be seen how the situation evolves over the next few months.

The 33-year-old is unlikely to have any shortage of suitors if he’s on the market this summer. Several top clubs could use a reliable goal scorer like him.

If they lose Lewandowski this summer, Bayern Munich could look to move for Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

The 33-year-old is valued at 50 million, and it is a figure that many clubs would be eager to spend on the Polish international.

Lewandowski is good enough to succeed in the Premier League or La Liga, and he has the quality to improve every team on the planet. It remains to be seen whether he is keen on a new challenge at this stage of his career.
