Dortmund secure derby delight as Schalke are brushed aside in a 3-0 win

Erling Haaland-Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund picked up a 3-0 win over FC Schalke in the German League earlier today.

The home side will be delighted with their performance in a Derby game and they will be hoping to build on it and put together a winning run now.

Lucien Favre’s team were the favourites heading into the game and they managed to outplay FC Schalke comfortably.

Dortmund took the lead through Manuel Akanji on the 55th minute and the goal machine Erling Haaland doubled their advantage six minutes later.

Mats Hummels wrapped up the scoring on the 78th minute.

FC Schalke will be disappointed to lose out against their bitter rivals but Dortmund were comfortably better than them and the away side deserved to lose.

Dortmund are now third in the League table with 12 points from  5 games, the same as Bayern Munich.

RB Leipzig are at the top with 13 points and Dortmund will be hoping to bridge the gap and climb to the top of the table in the coming weeks.

The German outfit have not won the League title for a while now and they will be desperate to go all the way this time.

As for FC Schalke, they have just one point from 5 League games so far and they will have to improve immensely if they want to beat relegation this season.
