Freiburg 2-2 Gladbach: Gladbach held for a away draw

Alassane Plea-Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia Mönchengladbach picked up a 2-2 draw against Freiburg in the Bundesliga earlier today.

Switzerland international Breel Embolo gave Borussia Mönchengladbach the lead on the 23rd minute but Freiburg managed to come back into the game through Philipp Lienhart.

Vincenzo Grifo scored a penalty in the second half to give Freiburg the lead on the 49th minute and Alassane Plea scored the equaliser to secure a point for Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The draw tonight leaves Gladbach 7th in the German League table with 16 points from 10 matches and they will have to improve a lot in the coming weeks if they want to secure European qualification this season.

Meanwhile, Freiburg are now up to 14th in the League table with just eight points from 10 matches and they have failed to secure a win in their last six League games.

They will be expected to perform better in the coming weeks and it will be interesting to see if the players can step up and deliver.

Borussia Mönchengladbach have been quite impressive in the Champions League this season and they will have to replicate that form in the German League as well.

The German side are on top of the Champions League group and they have the quality to challenge the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig in the German League.

Both teams will be looking to build on this draw in the coming weeks and it will be interesting to see if they can put together a winning run now.
