Borussia Mönchengladbach Score Four Past FC Schalke 04

Borussia Monchengladbach picked up their fourth win of the league season as they thrashed strugglers Schalke 04 at the Borussia-Park in Bundesliga on Saturday.

The home side who started with had Florian Neuhaus, Oscar Wendt, Marcus Thuram, and Hannes Wolf on the scoresheet, were the brighter of the two sides in the overall contest, ending the game with nine shots on target and over 55% possession.

Such was their dominance that their visitors were restricted to just two shots on target in the entire contest.

The home side started the better of the two teams scoring their first goal of the night in the 15th minute through Florian Neuhaus who fired home from the centre of the box.

Schake 04 tried to reply immediately when Suat Serdar released Benito Raman to score, but the Schalke attacker was offside.

However, their goal arrived in the 20th minute through Benito Raman found the top right corner of the net after being set up by Mark Uth.
But their lead was wiped out in the 36th minute through an Oscar Wendt goal. The left-back volleyed home from the left side of the box after he was found by Neuhaus who was causing the Schalke back-line all sorts of problems.

The hosts will add a further two goals in the second half through Marcus Thuram following a freekick, while Wolf completed the rout in the 80th minute after he was set up by Alassane Plea.

The win kept Gladbach’s European hopes alive while Schalke remained rooted in 18th place with just three points.
