RB Leipzig 1-3 Borussia Dortmund: Haaland, Sancho combine to drub Leipzig

Erling Haaland-Borussia Dortmund

Haaland scored a winning brace while Jadon Sancho also chipped in with a goal and an assist.

Dortmund has left RB Leipzig behind their trail after winning the weekend Bundesliga fixture 3-1.

The game was touted as a crunch clash as both the sides are currently in the top four race.

With no goals scored in the opening half, Jadon Sancho put the visitors ahead after combining brilliantly with fellow forwards Marco Reus and Erling Haaland.

The English winger has been impressive of late, scoring in the back to back games. Sancho received a lot of stick for his substandard season with Die Borussen, but now he looks like to have found his rhythm.

The 20-year-old also later set up Dortmund’s second goal, scored by Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian striker announced his return from the injury by completing a brace, this time he latched on to the through ball from Marco Reus.

Sorloth pulled one back for Leipzig as a consolation goal, thus suffering the second defeat of the season

Dortmund has won their second consecutive game in Bundesliga meanwhile Leipzig’s chances of going to the top of the table has been cut short after the defeat.

Edin Terzic would be a happy man after side comprehensively defeating current runners up for Bundesliga.

Haaland and Sancho are returning to their level best slowly and their presence would be vital for Dortmund in the upcoming games where they would contest for a place in the top four of the table.

Leipzig currently sit at second in the table, trailing Bayern Munich by two points.
