The American coach has struggled in his debut season in the German Bundesliga.

RB Leipzig have sacked head coach Jesse Marsch following the poor run of results in recent weeks.

Famed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano had earlier claimed that the American coach’s future was in danger while Leipzig’s Head of Sport Mintzlaff commented the performances in recent weeks were substandard.

Mintzlaff also hinted about the sacking of Marsch, stating that Leipzig should not afford to be outside the top-four of Bundesliga.

Now, the Saxony-based club have parted ways with Marsch just four months after his appointment.

Mintzlaff on Marsch’s sacking (h/t ESPN): “It was not easy for us to part company with Jesse Marsch, because I hold Jesse in high regard as a person and as a coach. It is a shame that things did not work out as we had hoped with this setup, and that this step has now become necessary.

“Unfortunately, the development we were hoping for and the results needed to achieve our goals for the season have not been achieved.”

The 48-year-old moved to Leipzig in the summer from the Austrian outfit and Leipzig’s sister club, RB Salzburg.

However, things haven’t gone according to plan for Marsch, with Leipzig surprisingly underperforming this season.

His predecessor Julian Nagelsmann led Die Roten Bullen to second place in the Bundesliga last season but Marsch has struggled to live up to the expectations.

After being eliminated from the Champions League group stage, things have gone south for Leipzig after three consecutive defeats in the Bundesliga, which currently leaves them at 11th position in the table.

Leipzig, undoubtedly, boast a young and talented squad and also play an attractive brand of football. However, Marsch has failed to pull off results.

Die Roten Bullen are currently on the lookout for a new manager and in the meantime, assistant coach Achim Beierlorzer will oversee the club on a makeshift basis.

Leipzig will face Manchester City in their final group stage game of the Champions League before they host Borussia Monchengladbach next Saturday.
