Schalke 0-4 Bayern Munich: Thomas Muller’s brace decimates Schalke

Thomas Muller-Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich are seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga following the 4-0 routing of Schalke

Thomas Muller continued his brilliant run as the German playmaker scored a brace in Bayern Munich‘s 4-0 routing of Schalke.

The home side had a bright chance at the start to go upfront but Manuel Neuer made a stunning save to keep the scoreboard intact.

Muller provided the lead for the Bavarians after netting a header from Joshua Kimmich’s set-piece.

Robert Lewandowski, who was a hard man to keep out of the game, doubled it up for Bayern in the 54th minute through a brilliant goal. The Polish striker sent the ball to the nets after an impeccable first touch and also leaving Schalke defender Ozan Kabak behind his trail.

Bayern kept the scoreboard ticking after Muller added another one to his tally. The second goal was almost similar to the opener, with Kimmich being the assist provided again from the set-piece.

David Alaba rounded off the game with a long-range effort but Schalke keeper Ralf Fahrmann should have done better on that occasion.

Muller has stolen the spotlight once again with a stellar display and he currently has nine goals to his name this season besides his tally of nine assists.

With the criticism surrounding Hansi Flick’s men over their performances in recent weeks, the win against Schalke could be well described as a complete one.

Furthermore, Bayern look to have taken a slightly unassailable lead after some of the title rivals dropped points in recent weeks.
