Schalke 0-4 Dortmund: Haaland scores wonder goal as Dortmund drub Schalke

The Norwegian striker stole the spotlight with another match-winning display in the derby

Erling Haaland continued his dream run as he helped Dortmund thrash Schalke 4 – 0 in the derby.

Die Borussen had been without a win in their last two league games and their Champions League qualification was also in jeopardy. However, the only positive prior to the game was their victory over Sevilla in the Champions League round of 16 earlier this week, where Haaland shone with a brace.

The Norwegian replicated the performance by scoring another double against Schalke which included an incredible volley. Jadon Sancho and Raphael Guerreiro also found the scoresheet to hammer the hosts.

Haaland received more praises for his heroics against Sevilla but he didn’t stop there as he carried his brilliant run tonight to help Dortmund secure an important away win. His goal tally has risen to 17 in Bundesliga this season, coming from only 17 appearances. The 20-year-old is behind Robert Lewandowski and Andre Silva in the scoring charts.

Dortmund, who are currently sixth in the table, have endured a fluctuating campaign so far even after the appointment of interim manager Edin Terzic but the victory against Schalke must have given them hopes of securing a top-four spot.

Having won back to back games in the space of less than a week, Dortmund will be up against Arminia in their next fixture before they face Borussia Monchengladbach in the DFB-Pokal quarter-final and Bayern Munich in the league’s reverse fixture.
