Brentford beat Swansea to reach Championship play-off final

Championship playoffs for Premier League qualification

Brentford secured a 3-1 win over Swansea in the second leg of the Championship playoff semi finals last night.

They were beaten 1-0 in the first leg but they managed to turn it around in style at home. Ollie Watkins, Emiliano Marcondes and Bryan Mbeumo scored the goals for the home side in a vital win for them.

Meanwhile, Rhian Brewster scored the only goal of the game for Swans. The win yesterday allows Brentford to progress into the playoff final with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

Brentford will be relieved to have come away with a win after the way they collapsed on the final day. They could have easily secured automatic promotion instead of West Brom but they were beaten in their last game.

The first leg of the semi finals would have made them nervy as well. But they managed to deliver in the end.

It will be interesting to see if they can win the final and secure their place in the Premier League next season. Brentford have played some good football this year and they deserve to go up along with Leeds and West Brom.

Players like Said Benrahma have shown that they are good enough to play in the Premier League.

It will be interesting to see how Swansea bounce back from this one now. They had a good chance of making it to the finals but a poor performance away from home has cost them their place in the final.

Brentford have not played top flight football since 1947 and they will be determined to give it their all in the final now.
