Emiliano Martinez eyeing Aston Villa transfer from Arsenal

Aston Villa are looking to bring in a new keeper this summer and they are interested in signing Emiliano Martinez from Arsenal.

The Argentine is not a first choice keeper for the Gunners and he could be allowed to leave for a reasonable price.

According to reports, Aston Villa have submitted a bid close to £20 million for the keeper and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal accept the offer now.

Aston Villa will be able to offer Martinez a starting berth next season especially now that Tom Heaton is out with a knee injury and he is set to miss the start of the campaign.

The Premier League side signed Pepe Reina on a loan deal to plug the gap last season but the Spaniard has now left the club and Villa will have to find someone else to replace Heaton in their starting lineup.

Martinez has been excellent for Arsenal whenever called upon and he was one of their best players in the Community Shield game against Liverpool last month as well.

Arsenal are looking to bring in Brentford goalkeeper David Raya as a replacement and they will look to sign the Spaniard before sanctioning Martinez’s exit.

According to reports Emiliano Martinez wants to play regular first-team football this coming season and therefore he could be tempted to move to Aston Villa.

It will be interesting to see if Dean Smith can get the transfer over the line in the coming weeks now.

Aston Villa will have to improve their attacking options as well and they have been linked with a move for Joshua King and Ollie Watkins.

Last season Aston Villa struggled to score goals consistently and signing a striker should be a top priority for them.
