FA Cup Draw: Manchester City still the favourites to win the trophy

Mohamed Salah-Aubameyang-Liverpool-Arsenal

The FA Cup draw was concluded earlier this week and the ties will be played over the weekend of 8th to 11th January.

Holders Arsenal will be looking to defend their cup this season and it will be interesting to see if Mikel Arteta’s side can go all the way once again.

Arsenal host Newcastle in the third round of the FA Cup and the likes of Liverpool will take on Aston Villa.

The Reds were thrashed by Aston Villa earlier in the Premier League this season and they will be hoping to avenge their 7-2 defeat when the two teams meet next month.

Elsewhere, Manchester United will take on Watford, Manchester City host Birmingham and Chelsea will host Morecambe in the third round of the competition.

Tottenham have been handed an easy away game against eighth tier side Marine.

Given the squad depth and the quality at their disposal, Manchester City will once again be the firm favourites to go all the way in the cup competition this season.

Pep Guardiola has an exceptional team that is nearly injury-free right now and they will be fancied to challenge on all fronts.

The likes of Liverpool are going through an injury crisis right now and Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to be able to field his best lineup in the cup games. Liverpool are likely to struggle in the FA Cup once again this season.

The likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea have impressive players at their disposal as well but they are likely to focus on the Premier League and secure a respectable finish there.

Also, all three clubs have the European football and they do not have the squad depth to challenge on all fronts like Manchester City.

Moreover, Liverpool and Arsenal have been handed tricky third-round games and the likes of Villa and Newcastle are perfectly capable of pulling off an upset.

That said, cup competitions are unpredictable and there could be several upsets along the way. it will be interesting to see who comes out on top eventually.
