Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that the new signings Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva will miss the Premier League fixture against Brighton.

Ziyech picked a knee injury in the friendlies against Brighton and Lampard has said that the former Moroccan star would recover in a week or two. Chilwell, who signed from Leicester City, missed the latter half of the last season due to injury.

Lampard said: “Hakim Ziyech took an injury to his knee against Brighton so won’t be fit. Hopefully it’s a matter of weeks, a couple of weeks but we have to see.”

“Ben Chilwell is working towards fitness and improved this week. He’s going in the right direction but won’t be ready for Brighton.”

“Thiago is in London but not training with us until the weekend, so I doubt he’s in contention for the game.”

Thiago Silva joined as a free agent from PSG after playing his last game with the Ligue 1 giants in the Champions League final last month.

However, Lampard is excited about the return of Cesar Azpilicueta and Christian Pulisic to the squad after both picking up hamstring injuries in the FA cup final against Arsenal.

The Blues will face Brighton in their Premier League opener, and the match will probably be the debut for German duo Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, who both have cost Chelsea more than 100 million pounds.
