Griezmann has struggled for consistency since moving to Barcelona. The Frenchman has come under fire after scoring only 6 goals in La Liga this season and currently is not regular in starting eleven.

Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann has struggled for consistency since moving to the Nou Camp as has failed to replicate the impressive numbers he previously had at Atletico Madrid.

Over the last two seasons, the French attacker’s form has taken a significant dip although he showed flashes of brilliance on occasions.

It often led to criticisms whether he is really worth the 120m euros, the release clause Barca exercised from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2019.

However, France national team boss Didier Deschamps insisted that Griezmann’s poor form wouldn’t affect his selection in the national team and pointed out that Manchester United star Paul Pogba had similar struggles before he gained confidence while playing for France.

“He may not be playing at his best, but that is not to question his quality. It would be indecent to question his presence in the national team.

In November, Paul was going through an even more difficult period with Manchester United. Being with us gave him a boost and he had a great game against Portugal. Antoine’s case is the same, it’s a matter of trust.”

Griezmann looked to have found his form back at Barca since the turn of the year but his struggles started to surface once again in recent weeks, which saw him lose his place in the starting line-up.

But the 29-year-old played a productive cameo as a substitute in Barca’s incredible comeback win against Sevilla in the second leg of Copa del Rey semi-finals as he set up Gerard Pique’s equaliser in injury time.

Not only Griezmann fellow striker Olivier Giroud was categorically told by national manager Deschamps to get more playing time at club level before UEFA Euro in June, 2021.
