Jose Mourinho edges one step closer to his first trophy with Tottenham

Son-Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham picked up a 2-0 win over Brentford in the Carabao Cup semi finals earlier tonight.

They will now take on Manchester United or Manchester City in the final of the competition on the 25th of April.

Tottenham were excellent from start to finish and Jose Mourinho will be eyeing his first trophy with the London club this season.

The Premier League side took the lead on the 12th minute through Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung-Min doubled Tottenham’s advantage on the  70th minute.

Brentford’s night went from bad to worse when Josh Dasilva was sent off on the 84th minute.

The Championship outfit were poor defensively on the night and Spurs will be delighted with how easily they managed to get past the opposition defence.

Tottenham scored the opening goal of the game when Sergio Reguilon’s inch perfect cross was guided in from ten yards by Moussa Sissoko.

Brentford had a goal disallowed in the 51st minute when Ivan Toney was adjudged offside by VAR.

Tanguy Ndombele set up the second goal of the game for Tottenham with a splendid through ball to Son, who fired high into the Brentford net from sixteen yards.

Brentford were the underdogs heading into the game and the result is hardly a surprise. It will be interesting to see if Spurs can replicate this performance in the final now.

Jose Mourinho is a proven winner with an exemplary record in finals. He will be expected to grind out a win against Manchester City or Manchester United now.
