Barcelona appointed Ronald Koeman as new manager

Ronald Koeman has been appointed as the new Barcelona manager earlier today.

Setien and was sacked after a humiliating defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The Germans picked up a thumping 8-2 win over the Catalan giants.

Koeman has now left his post as the Netherlands head coach to take over at Camp Nou.

It will be interesting to see if the former Barcelona player can steady the ship and help Barcelona fight for titles next year.

The Spanish side failed to win the League and the Champions League this season and they will be thoroughly disappointed with their performances this year.

It will be interesting to see if they can hold on to their key players like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez now. Apparently, Messi is willing to leave the club this summer unless the club hierarchy shows the necessary ambition.

It remains to be seen if Barcelona can bring in the necessary reinforcements for the next season.

It is no secret that the Spanish Giants need to improve their defence and midfield.

Furthermore, they need to bring in someone who can replace Luis Suarez as the club’s first-choice striker. The Uruguayan is in his 30s now and he is past his peak.

The top priority for Koeman now is to ensure that his key players stay at the club beyond this summer.

He has done an excellent job for the Netherlands national team so far, and the fans will be hoping for more of the same at Barcelona now.

Initially, the likes of Guardiola and Pochettino were linked with the job. Former players Xavi and Henry were thought to be on the list as well.
