Mauricio Pochettino - Favourite to take charge as Newcastle Manager

The former Spurs boss has emerged as the favourite to become the next manager of Barcelona.

Barcelona have reportedly identified Mauricio Pochettino as the ideal candidate to succeed Quique Setien as the full-time manager.

Setien looks to have managed his last game with Barca as his side hit rock bottom after the 8-2 defeat against Bayern in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Barca are in the look-out for a new manager and have identified the former Tottenham boss.

Pochettino has been on hiatus ever since he parted ways with Spurs and linked with a host of Europe’s elites, most recently Juventus. He was heavily tipped to take up the job at Turin before Bianconeri decided to go with former player Andrea Pirlo.

The 48-year-old was highly known for his controversial comments on managing Barcelona since being a former Espanyol manager.

However, Pochettino has recently denied such allegations while adding that he had dinner with Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Setien has been linked with an exit from Camp Nou for a while after a poor first season at Camp Nou – winning no titles. Furthermore, the former Real Betis gaffer has failed to win the faith of the dressing room.

Xavi turns out to be another possible candidate; however, the possibilities are less for him to take charge this summer as he had signed a contract extension with Al Sadd.

It would be interesting to see how Pochettino would revive the Blaugrana if he were to land a job this summer.
