The Manchester City striker is the latest one to get linked with a move to the Catalan club.

Barcelona are interested in recruiting Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero as Ronald Koeman continues to explore the market for attacking options – especially in the striker role.

According to reports, Aguero, who still awaits a contract renewal from Citizens – since his current deal expires soon -, has become the Catalan club’s latest target to fill in the void left by Luis Suarez in the summer.

The Uruguayan’s gigantic presence has been clearly absent this season although the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Martin Braithwaite have fared decently in the striker role.

Most importantly, Lionel Messi’s presence – if he stays at the club for one more season – Barca could be a favourite to land his Argentine Compatriot for free in the summer.

Aguero has endured an injury-ridden season this term and hence hardly appeared in action.

However, his absence must have been felt by Pep Guardiola, whose side are looking complacent in front of goal.

Furthermore, Barca’s interest in the former Atletico Madrid man has come after his recent links with PSG, with new boss Mauricio Pochettino dreaming of a Messi-Aguero partnership.

Aguero has etched his name in City’s history books after becoming their all-time top scorer. Even when they signed Gabriel Jesus years ago as a future option for the striker role, Aguero managed to bench the Brazilian often due to his brilliant scoring form, which has only suffered a dip this season.
