The Catalans’ interim president Carles Tusquets has made a shocking transfer claim on the Argentine.

Barcelona interim president Carles Tusquets has claimed that he would have preferred the sale of skipper Lionel Messi in the summer.

Tusquets has been appointed as the president on a makeshift basis since the departure of Josep Maria Bartomeu. Tusquets will remain in charge until a new president gets elected next month.

However, he has made a shocking admission about the possible sale of Messi this summer while the Argentine himself was ready to leave the Nou Camp.

Economically speaking, “I would have sold Messi in the summer.”

“It would have been desirable for the money you would’ve received and the money you would’ve saved. La Liga requires wage limits.”

.

While the primary objective of the upcoming president is understood to be persuading Messi to sign a new contract, Tusquets’ comments would certainly not go well with any of the fans.

Messi’s current deal will be running out next summer and there aren’t any signs of extension talks yet.

Manchester City remains in the front foot to sign the 33-year-old as a free agent next summer while PSG have also reportedly joined the race.

Neymar has recently stated his desire to play with Messi again while Leandro Paredes, PSG star and Messi’s Argentine teammate, stands by the Brazilian.

It remains to be seen how much Tusquets’ words would have it’s effects on Messi especially when he is uncertain over his future at the Nou Camp.
