Barcelona prepare another swap deal with Juventus for Rodrigo Bentancur

Barca have now set their sights on Bentancur following Pjanic’s transfer.

Barcelona are reportedly planning another swap deal with Juventus for the signing of Rodrigo Bentancur, having recently completed the transfer of Miralem Pjanic with Arthur going the other end.

As per reports, Barca are now willing to use Ivan Rakitic as a makeweight in the deal to land Bentancur at Camp Nou. The Catalans are still required to splash around 30 million euros for the Uruguayan midfielder.

Rakitic has just a year left in his contract, with Barca unwilling to extend his stay. The Croatian has been linked with a move to his former club Sevilla.

Bentancur has enjoyed an impressive season with Bianconeri, eventually winning the Scudetto. The 23-year-old registered a tally of eight assists in Serie A, mostly playing in all the matches under Maurizio Sarri.

Bentancur would be a great addition to the Catalans citing his playing style and the ability to play anywhere across the midfield.

However, Barca are currently deprived of funds, resulting from the COVID outbreak, and it remains to be seen whether they could afford such player-plus-cash deals, a recent trend in the market.

Meanwhile, Juve will likely hold onto the Uruguayan as he has been a consistent performer for the past two seasons. Under Sarri, Bentancur has cemented his place as a vital cog in the midfield. Betancur is expected to play a huge role next season following the departure of Pjanic.
