Atletico Madrid had Thomas Partey on the bench for the whole quarterfinal match against RB Leipzig. The reason was not specified but the news of his constant link up with Arsenal and subsequent confirmation of a deal might have some impact on Atletico Madrid chances.
Not only, Thomas Partey but there are other three important players who are perhaps on their way to move out of Madrid.
Atletico Madrid have just made a huge rebuild after it allowed six of its first team player leave last year and Diego Simone had to out lot of effort to take his team to top-eight of UEFA Champions League.
Jan Oblak
Atletico Madrid keeper Jan Oblak has been linked with a move to Chelsea recently.
Before the Champions League clash against Leipzig, Oblak confirmed that he will sort out his future once the season is over.
He said: ”I’ll assess the season when the last game is over. Hopefully, we’ll have three more games left to play. Then there will be time after that to talk. But first, Leipzig. I’m really looking forward to it.”
The Spanish outfit crashed out of the Champions League earlier this week and it will be interesting to see what the player decides.
Oblak is one of the top two keepers in the world right now and he would be a tremendous signing for Chelsea. The Blues need to bring in an upgrade on Kepa this summer.
Atletico will not want to sell their best player this summer and Oblak has a massive release clause as well. It remains to be seen whether the Blues are prepared to smash their club transfer record to land the keeper this summer.
Thomas Partey
Meanwhile, midfielder Thomas Partey has been linked with a move away from Atletico Madrid as well.
The hardworking midfielder has been linked with Arsenal in the recent weeks and it will be interesting to see if the Gunners can complete a deal to sign him.
Partey would add power, presence and technical ability to Arteta’s midfield.
Jose Gimenez
Defender Jose Gimenez has been linked with Chelsea as well.
The Blues need to improve at the back and the Atletico Madrid ace would be a superb addition.
Gimenez is a strong, no-nonsense defender who would be an upgrade on the likes of Zouma, Christensen and Tomori. He could partner the likes of Rudiger at the back next season.
Saul
Saul has also been linked with Manchester United. Perhaps next few days are going to be crucial, considering Jadon Sancho transfer may not happen this summer.
