Getafe 3-0 Valencia: Hosts cruise past ten-man opposition to end losing run

Getafe-Carles Alena

Getafe picked up a 3-0 win over Valencia in the Spanish League earlier tonight.

Mauro Arambarri scored the opening goal on the 39th minute and doubled their advantage through Jaime Mata on the 55th minute.

Valencia had a Mouctar Diakhaby sent off on the 51st minute and Getafe made the most of that opportunity. Carles Alena wrapped up the scoring on the 87th minute.

Valencia were three points clear of today’s opposition coming into the game and both sides are now level on points after 90 minutes.

The home fans will be delighted with the result against Valencia tonight and Getafe have now managed to end their four-match winless run in the League. They had lost their last four league games and they were severely lacking in form and confidence.

Meanwhile, Valencia managed to beat Celta Vigo in their last outing and they were expected to win here as well.

The defeat tonight leaves Valencia 14th in the League table with 27 points from 25 matches and Getafe have the same number of points but they are 13th because of the head to head results.

Both teams will have to improve a lot over the coming weeks if they want to climb into the top half.

They are just six points clear of the drop zone and they could easily get sucked into the relegation battle if they continue to slip up.

Today’s result was a much-needed win for Getafe and it will be interesting to see if they can build on this and put together a winning run now. On the other hand, Valencia will be expected to produce a strong reaction in their next outing.
