The Barcelona gaffer was not happy with the Spanish midfielder for revealing information media.
Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig has revealed the information that he wouldn’t be part of Ronald Koeman‘s plans to the media, which hasn’t gone well with the Dutch gaffer.
According to reports, Koeman slammed the Spanish midfielder for his actions with whole dressing room watching ahead of the Gamper trophy.
Puig had a breakout season last term and when everyone thought the La Masia graduate would be an integral part of the Catalans this season, Koeman’s decision to snub him came as a surprise.
The Dutch gaffer has stuck with his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation so far this season, with his Dutch counterpart being the only indispensable player until now.
Koeman also pointed out that Puig needs to improve on certain aspects such as his physicality in order to attain a starter berth.
However, Puig begged to differ when he produced a brilliant cameo against Juventus in the final matchday of the Champions League group stage despite Barca ending up on the losing side. The 21-year-old was scintillating from the moment he was subbed on in the second half and created a good among the Blaugrana fans.
Despite the impressive display, Puig didn’t start in the La Liga fixture against Levante and it can be understood now Koeman doesn’t prefer the young Spaniard.
Barca have had a struggling season so far and Koeman also looked out of depth in his managerial debut season at the Nou Camp.
Following the defeat against Juventus, it was reported that the former Everton gaffer hasn’t attained the much of the dressing room supports and his tactics were also questioned a lot.
