Spanish outlet El Mundo has revealed the details of Lionel Messi‘s staggering contract at Barcelona in detailed 30-pages paperwork.

According to it, the Argentine is the highest-paid sportsman in the world with a contract worth €555m.

The contract includes Messi’s fixed salary, image rights, variables and tax at Barca and adding to it, a £69m loyalty bonus he earns every year.

However, the Catalan club has made it clear officially that they had no part to do in leaking the contract details and also insisted that they could take legal action against El Mundo.

“FC Barcelona categorically denies any responsibility for the publication of this document, and will take appropriate legal action against the newspaper El Mundo, for any damage that may be caused as a result of this publication.”

“FC Barcelona expresses its absolute support for Lionel Messi, especially in the face of any attempt to discredit his image, and to damage his relationship with the entity where he has worked to become the best player in the world and in football history.”

It has also been reported that Messi, who has been left furious with the leaking of his contract details unbeknownst to him, would also sue the Spanish outlet.

Barca manager Ronald Koeman also commented on the incident that the people responsible for leaking Messi’s contract details wouldn’t have a future at the Catalan club.

The 33-year-old has a contract running until the end of this season and it remains to be seen whether this incident would affect him in deciding his future with the Catalans.
