Olhats: Griezmann intended to leave Barcelona before Koeman’s arrival

The French World Cup winner contemplated an exit before Bayern humbling.

Antoine Griezmann has had plans to leave Barcelona before the Champions League horror show against Bayern Munich.

The French forward’s former agent Eric Olhats has revealed that Griezmann was considering leaving the Catalan clubs after just one season.

Olhats said,

“Before the defeat in the Champions League against Bayern, Antoine only had the desire to leave Barça.”

“The reality is that Griezmann perceived that he was not part of the club’s plans, that he could not continue like this.

Olhats also added that the arrival of Koeman has made Griezmann give up the idea of leaving Barca.

“He[Griezmann] was seriously studying how to leave. Then what we know happened and a conversation with Koeman reassured him.

“He expressed his plans, because he considers him an important player for the future.”

Griezmann’s first season at the Nou Camp didn’t go as he would have planned. Arriving from Atletico Madrid over a fee of 120 million euros, the 29-year-old failed to live up to the overwhelming expectations. Adding insult to the injury, he sat out the bench for almost the entirety of the game against his former club Atletico months ago.

However, Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu has recently put him in the list of non-transferable players though the likes of Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi could leave the Nou Camp this summer.
