Barcelona closed the gap with league leaders Atletico Madrid with a 2-0 win over Osasuna in the Spanish League earlier tonight.

Jordi Alba scored the opening goal of the game on the 30th minute and Ilaix Moriba wrapped up the scoring on the 83rd minute to give the Catalan giants all three points.

The win takes Barcelona up to 56 points from 26 matches and they are two points behind Atletico Madrid. Meanwhile, Osasuna are now 13th in the League table after the defeat.

The home side will be disappointed to have come away empty handed after the kind of subdued performance Barcelona produced tonight. Osasuna could have made life difficult for the Catalan giants with a bit more effort here.

Despite Barcelona dominating the proceedings in the first half the Spanish giants managed to create very little and Osasuna did well to stay in the contest for most of the game.

The home team had a massive slice of luck on the 20th minute when goalkeeper Herrera was shown a red card for handling the ball outside the box while trying to stop Lionel Messi.

However the Argentine international was adjudged offside and Herrera was allowed to stay on the pitch.

The Barcelona star made his mark 10 minutes later when his outstanding switch off play allowed Alba to fire his side into the lead.

Messi was the star of the show once again as he set up Ilaix Moriba for the second goal of the game on the 83rd minute.

The Catalan giants did not have to work too hard for the three points and the Osasuna fans will be disappointed with the effort from their players at home.
