The newly-promoted Cadiz have defeated Real Madrid

Cadiz have produced a shocking win against defending champions Real Madrid at Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium.

The visitors nearly had their lead in the opening minute as Negredo caught Real Madrid off guard.

However, Sergio Ramos made a vital touchline clearance to keep the scoreboard fresh.

Thibaut Courtois was forced into action several times in the eye-opening first quarter and the Belgian goalkeeper made a fine save against the centre-back Cala.

The resistance didn’t last long as Anthony Lozano gave an early lead to Cadiz. The Honduran striker beat Courtois with a fantastic chip.

Los Blancos gained control in the second half as they continued to push for the equalizer.

However, Cadiz successfully held out the lead against Madrid throughout the game. The best chance for Madrid came in the final ten minutes of the game when Karim Benzema’s strike hit the crossbar.

Madrid have now dropped points on two occasions this season, previously in the goalless draw against Real Sociedad.

Although they looked in control for the entire second half, their early lapses and the lack of dynamism in the final third had cost them the game.

On the other hand, the newly promoted Cadiz have made history by defeating the defending La Liga Champions. Cadiz have already won three games this season and are now second in the table.

The defeat has given Zinedine Zidane a reality check as his side approaches a tough run of fixtures in the coming weeks including El Classico next Saturday.
