The Manchester City striker is yet to be handed a contract extension.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is reportedly open to the prospect of joining hands with Lionel Messi at Barcelona.

The report also adds that the Argentine is on the top of the wishlist of the presidential candidates including the likes of Victor Font, Joan Laporta, Toni Freixa.

Aguero has reached the final few months of his contract at Etihad, but his deteriorating physical fitness could be a hindrance for City handing him a new deal.

The 33-year-old is currently recovering from COVID-19 but it would take around weeks for him to return to his full fitness.

Guardiola commented on Aguero:

“He started to move a little yesterday but he will need a few weeks to come back.

“He [tested] negative, this is the most important thing. He is healthy again and now he will come back again.

“As the top scorer it is important for us to have him back.”

Meanwhile, Barca have been missing the services of a nominal centre-forward ever since Luis Suarez left the club to join Atletico Madrid.

Aguero could be an interesting short-term option and he can come up with goods given his world-class quality and experience.

More importantly, Barca believe that Aguero’s arrival could help them convince Messi to stay at the Nou Camp for good.

The Six-time Ballon d’Or also has his contract running out this summer, with the Catalan club working hard to tie him to a new deal.
