Benzema injury blow
Manager Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that the striker picked up an injury in training on Friday morning and he will not travel with the site for today’s game against Real Valladolid.
“He won’t be with us tomorrow,” said Zidane in a press conference on Friday. “He has a problem and because it came up yesterday he won’t be there tomorrow. We’ll see for next week.”
“We know what Karim gives us and how important he is for us,” said Zidane. “But we have to deal with this and get him back as soon as possible, like the others.”
The Frenchman has scored 17 times in all competitions this season.
The Spanish champions are already struggling with several injury issues and the absence of Benzema will be a major blow for them.
The likes of Eden Hazard, Sergio Ramos, Dani Carvajal, Marcelo, Eder Militao, Alvaro Odriozola, Federico Valverde and Rodrygo are also expected to miss today’s game with injuries.
Zidane called up six players from Castilla
Meanwhile, Zidane has called up six young players from the Real Madrid Castilla to cope with the current injury crisis.
Apparently Real Madrid are now left with 13 first-team players due to nine injury problems and the Real Madrid manager has called up the likes of Altube, Victor Chust, Miguel Gutierrez, Arribas, Hugo Duro and Blanco for the game against Valladolid later today.
It will be interesting to see if the youngsters can help Los Blancos grind out an important win in the game.
