Bordeaux

Struggling Bordeaux welcome Lyon to the Matmut Atlantique looking for their first win in four games.

The hosts have lost three of their last four league games by an aggregate scoreline of 10-5. They were beaten 5-2 by Strasbourg in their last game, their seventh loss of the season.

The result kept them pinned in the relegation playoff spot, just one point above the relegation spot.

Despite changing managers in the summer, Bordeaux’s fortunes have not improved. By bringing in former Switzerland manager Vladimir Petkovic, the hosts were expecting to improve on their 12th place finish of last season.

But things have gone from good to bad this season and Bordeaux come into this game with the worst defensive record for any of the teams in Europe’s top five leagues.

With one win from their home games this season, things are looking really bad for Petkovic’s side.

Possible Bordeaux starting line-up

Benoit Costil; Timothee Pembele, Mexer, Stian Rode Gregersen, Gideon Mensah; Javairo Dilrosun, Otavio, Jean Onana, Alberth Elis; Yacine Adli, Hwang Ui-Jo.

Injured: Paul Baysse

Doubtful: Abdel Medioub, Laurent Koscielny

Suspended: None

Lyon

After losing 2-1 to Reims on Wednesday, Lyon will look to return to winning ways this Sunday against Bordeaux. The game, which was played behind closed doors due to fan trouble in recent fixtures, saw Peter Bosz taste his first home loss as Lyon boss.

The visitors opened the scoring early in the second half before Lyon equalised through Karl Toko Ekambi. But Hugo Ekitike struck a 93rd-minute winner for Reims to snatch all three points for the visitors and condemn the hosts to their sixth Ligue 1 loss of the season.

They come into this tie sitting in 10th place, six points behind Rennes in third place.

Bosz’s side will be desperate to pick up a win here to keep themselves within the top five places. However, they must drastically improve on their away form which has seen them lose four times in seven away trips (W2, D1). That record is in sharp contrast to last season, where Lyon finished the season 17 games unbeaten on their Ligue 1 travels, winning a staggering 11 of those fixtures.

Possible Lyon starting line-up

Anthony Lopes; Malo Gusto, Jason Denayer, Jerome Boateng, Emerson Palmieri; Maxence Caqueret, Bruno Guimaraes; Lucas Paqueta, Houssem Aouar, Karl Toko Ekambi; Moussa Dembele.

Injured: None

Doubtful: Sinaly Diomande, Leo Dubois, Lenny Pintor, Jeff Reine-Adelaide

Suspended: Tino Kadewere
