Da Fonseca: Messi will end up playing for PSG

Former Argentine player Omar de Fonseca says that Lionel Messi would be happy to join the French champions – PSG.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi has been heavily linked with a move to PSG with his contract at the Nou Camp expiring at the end of this season.

Messi’s transfer links to Paris St-Germain have spurred following Neymar’s admission to reunite with the Blaugrana skipper and Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment as the new manager.

Former PSG and Argentinese player Omar Da Fonseca believes that Messi would make the rumours true by joining the French Capital club in the summer.

In the Spanish newspapers I read that his whole family had begun to learn French,” Da Fonseca – a retired Argentine footballer who played for PSG during his career – explained in an interview with RMC.

“As a child, if I’d been told I was coming to play in Paris then it would have been music to my ears. For us Argentines in France, Paris is something important.

“Messi will come. Just imagine if he is able to say he won the Champions League with PSG.”

The Six-time Ballon d’Or winner remains coy over his future while the presidential candidates of Barca are keen to extend his contract, with interim president Carlos Tusquets being exempt.

Messi has been brilliant of late, especially after the new-year, producing some impressive displays for the Catalans, who are now second in the table.

It remains to be seen what does the future hold for Messi, although for now, the rumours never look to cease.
