Les Gones picked up a stalemate against Bordeaux.

Lyon were held to a goalless draw by Bordeaux in the matchday 3 of Ligue 1.

Les Gones failed to capitalise on the empathic win against Dijon FC last week.

The hero against Dijon, Memphis Depay, couldn’t inspire his side while Moussa Dembele continued to be complacent in front of goal.

Ekambi came closer at the start to put Lyon ahead before misfiring his shot away from the post. Houssem Aouar, who came in as a substitute for Bruno Guimaraes, hit the post around the 80th minute, the best chance occurred to Lyon yet.

Aouar’s impact was clearly seen as soon as he was called up from the bench. The 22-year-old, who has been linked with a transfer move to Arsenal of late, missed last week’s Ligue 1 game after testing positive for coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Bordeaux are off to a decent start to the Ligue 1 after picking up two draws and a win so far.

Lyon manager Rudi Garcia had his say on the draw.

Garcia said: “We dominated but we did not have enough of a killer instinct. We had no luck when Houssem Aouar hit the post. We were rarely troubled apart from one or two crosses, and the team spirit was visible, on the positive side.”

OGC Nice are currently topping the Ligue 1 table with two wins out of two games.

Lyon will face Montpellier in their next fixture.
