PSG made contact with Lionel Messi’s father to sign Barcelona star in January

Neymar-Barcelona reunion - Would PSG allow Neymar go

Les Parisiens have entered the transfer race for Messi whose contract expires next summer.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi has a new suitor in Ligue 1 champions PSG, who are looking to sign a pre-contract with the Argentine in January.

According to reports, PSG have contacted Lionel Messi’s father Jorge Messi to discuss a potential move, with the Blaugrana skipper’s contract expiring at the end of this season.

The transfer saga of Lionel Messi took the centre-stage in the summer transfer window after he decided to leave his long-time club. However, he was forced to stay at the Nou Camp in the end after he was told by the Barca board under then-president Josep Maria Bartomeu that the option to leave for free – a part of his contract – had expired.

Even after Bartomeu’s resignation, Messi still looks uncertain on continuing his career with Barca and he is yet to sign a new contract.

PSG are ready to snap up the 33-year-old, who is also under the radar of Premier League giants Manchester City. Citizens are looking persistent in their pursuit of Messi, having failed to sign him in the summer transfer window.

Les Parisiens are also reportedly looking to recruit Cristiano Ronaldo, who Juventus are looking to sell next summer.

Neymar’s presence would also help Les Parsiens signing the Argentine star as both players share a great friendship. At the same time, PSG are also one of the few clubs who can afford a high salary for Messi should he leave Barcelona.
