Manchester City picked up a 2-1 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League yesterday.

Goals from David Silva and Gabriel Jesus sealed the three points for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Bournemouth got one back through David Brooks two minutes from time but they failed to score the equalizer. City held on for all three points in the end.

Joshua King did score for the Cherries as well but it was disallowed for offside.

The win takes City within 18 points of Liverpool, who have already won the Premier League. The Reds crashed to a defeat against Arsenal yesterday. Meanwhile, Bournemouth remain 18th in the league table, three points behind West Ham United and Watford, who each have a match in hand.

Guardiola will be reasonably pleased with his team’s performance on the night. However, he would have expected a more comfortable game.

The Cherries have had a very poor season and they were massive underdogs coming into the game. However, they have done well to keep the score line at 2-1 against a team of City’s quality.

It will be interesting to see if they can beat the drop somehow this season. Eddie Howe’s men will need some luck to stay up this season.

Manchester City legend David Silva gave them the lead in the sixth minute with a superb free-kick. The home side doubled their lead before half-time when Silva found Gabriel Jesus, and the Brazilian found the bottom corner.
