Manchester City resumed their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 win over Arsenal.

Goals from  Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden sealed a thoroughly impressive result for the home side.

Pep Guardiola’s men were in control right from the start and Arsenal were completely outclassed.

Arsenal ace David Luiz had a night to forget as he was directly responsible for two of City’s goals. He managed to set up Manchester City’s opener after failing to deal with De Bruyne’s pass properly.

He also gave away a penalty by hauling down Riyad Mahrez in the Arsenal box. The Brazilian was promptly sent off.

It will be interesting to see how this performance affects Arteta’s decision regarding his future. The Arsenal boss wanted to keep Luiz at the club earlier but it seems that his error prone displays will continue to be a part of his game.

Meanwhile, Foden scored the third goal in injury time. Aguero’s shot came off the post and the youngster followed up with the rebound.

The win leaves Manchester City second in the Premier League table with 60 points and Arsenal are now 9th on 40 points. The likes of Burnley, Everton and Palace are breathing down their necks.
