Manchester United crash to a home defeat against Neymar-inspired PSG

Manchester United crashed to a 3-1 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League earlier tonight.

The Premier League side had a great chance to ensure knockout qualification today as group winners, if they had picked up all three points tonight. Even a draw at home, could put them an advantageous position before final group league match against Leipzig.

Instead, Group H is now wide open with Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig all on 9 points after five matches.

It all comes down to the final group game and it will be interesting to see which two teams make it to the Champions League knockouts and which team drops down to the Europa League now.

Neymar gave the French outfit their lead six minutes into the game but Manchester United managed to come back soon after when Marcus Rashford scored the leveller on the 32ndminute. Rashford shot took a big deflection from Danilo inside the box, befooling Navas.

It looked like it could be a lucky day for Manchester United as Fred was left leniently with a yellow card during first half, after he head-butted Leandro Paredes. Their second involvement within few minutes saw Paredes receiving yellow.

The Red Devils had the chance to take the lead a few minutes later but they couldn’t capitalise on their opportunities. Edinson Cavani hit the bar and Anthony Martial missed a sitter.

PSG captain and Brazilian defender Marquinhos give Paris Saint-Germain their lead on the 69th minute and things went from bad to worse when Fred was sent off for Manchester United on the 70th minute.

The Premier League side had to play the remaining 20 minutes with a man less and the French outfit made the most of that and Neymar wrapped up the scoring on the 91st minute to pick up three vital points in the Champions League.
