Newcastle secured a comfortable home win over Sheffield United today.
The Magpies have now completed a league double over Chris Wilder’s team and Steve Bruce will be delighted with the performance today.
Allan Saint-Maximin gave the home side a well-deserved lead and Matt Ritchie doubled the advantage before Joelinton scored to seal the three points.
The goal will give the Brazilian striker a whole lot of confidence and it will be interesting to see if he can finish the season strongly now.
Newcastle are now 12th in the table and they will fancy their chances of breaking into the top half this year.
It will be interesting to see where they finish in the table.
Meanwhile, the defeat will come as a huge blow to Sheffield United. They were within touching distance of European qualification before the lockdown but they have now dropped five points in two games since the resumption of the Premier League.
It will be interesting to see if they can bounce back and finish the season strongly. Wilder has done a great job with the Blades this season and it would be a pity if they collapse in their remaining games.
The lay-off seems to have affected their momentum and Sheffield United will need to find their rhythm soon.
