Arsenal continue to crumble under Arteta, Emery pushes for a record-breaking season with Villarreal

Unai Emery-Villarreal

Arsenal have made a very disappointing start to their Premier League season this year and Mikel Arteta is under immense pressure to turn it around for the Londoners.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal manager Unai Emery seems to be doing pretty well at Villarreal and one has to wonder whether the Spaniard was not given enough time at Arsenal.

Emery has managed to set a new club record with the Spanish side who are now unbeaten in their last 19 games in all competitions.

Villarreal have also managed to qualify for the last 32 of the Europa League and Emery has just lost one of his 21 games with the La Liga side.

The Spaniard was sacked by the North London club after a run of seven winless games and Arteta is now in a similar phase having failed to win the club’s last seven Premier League games.

It will be interesting to see whether Arteta is axed in the coming weeks with the club languishing down in the 15th place.

The Arsenal manager has recently revealed that there is negativity around the team and the atmosphere around the club is similar to when former manager Unai Emery was sacked by Arsenal last year.

“We cannot deny there is a negativity around the team,” he said. “When you are in this position and we have the points that we have at the moment, you have to look and be careful. Last year when I came in, we were in a very similar position and the same talk was around the place. It’s normal.”
