Arsenal were held to a goalless draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League earlier tonight.

The Gunners came into this game on the back of a three match winning run and Mikel Arteta will be disappointed to have dropped two points at home.

Arsenal made an impressive start to the game but Crystal Palace grew into the contest and could have easily taken the lead in the first half.

James Tomkins managed to hit the crossbar on the 39th minute and then Bernd Leno did well to deny Christian Benteke. The Belgian managed to connect with Mitchell’s cross but the German keeper pulled off an impressive save.

Arsenal had a couple of chances in the second half but they failed to find the net. Ainsley Maitland Niles was denied by Vicente Guaita and Rob Holding failed to hit the target with a pinpoint corner from Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal are now 11th in the Premier League table with 24 points and Crystal Palace are 13th. The Eagles are now unbeaten in their last five matches against Arsenal and they will be reasonably happy with their performance tonight.

The Gunners will be hoping to qualify for European football this season and they cannot afford to keep dropping points against weaker sides.

It will be interesting to see if they can improve in the coming weeks and add some consistency to their performances.

As for Palace, they will be hoping to build on this and secure a top half finish this season.
