Arsenal looking to replace 28-year-old with Championship ace

Arsenal are thought to be keen on signing the Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

Emiliano Martinez is closing in on a move to Aston Villa and the Spaniard is expected to replace the 28 year old at Arsenal.

Martinez has been a fantastic option for Arsenal over the past year but he is keen on playing regular first-team football and the Gunners cannot offer him such assurances.

It seems that Aston Villa have promised him regular first-team action and the Argentine is now closing in on a move to  Villa Park.

Martinez did well to replace Leno in the starting lineup when the German was injured last season and he helped Arsenal win The FA Cup and the Community Shield.

There is no doubt that he could prove to be a quality addition to Aston villa’s squad next season. Tom Heaton is currently out injured and Argentine is expected to take his place in the starting line up right away.

Raya has done well for Brentford in the championship and he could prove to be the ideal backup option for Leno next season.

It will be interesting to see if the Premier League Giants can agree on a fee with the championship outfit in the coming weeks.

If they can convince Brentford to sell the player it shouldn’t be difficult for them to convince the Spaniard. I’ve moved to Arsenal would be a massive step up in his career and the player is likely to be tempted.

Arsenal need to add more depth to their sport this summer and they have already started the transfer window impressively with the additions of Willian and Gabriel.

It remains to be seen if they can add more depth to their goalkeeping department before the transfer window closes.
