Arsenal ready to rectify their £72m transfer blunder

Nicolas Pepe-Arsenal

Arsenal are prepared to cash in on Nicolas Pepe if a suitable offer comes in for the Ivory Coast international.

The Gunners paid a club-record fee of £72 million for the 25-year-old winger but he has failed to live up to the expectations so far.

Pepe was recently sent off against Leeds United after headbutting Alioski during a Premier League game.

According to reports, Arsenal are looking to avoid a similar situation to that of Mesut Ozil. The Premier League side are stuck with the German international on massive wages and they’re struggling to find a suitor for him right now.

They are keen to offload Pepe while his stock is still reasonably high.

The Premier League side are prepared to loan him as well if a club agrees to an obligation to buy.

The Arsenal winger arms around £140,000 a week at the Premier League club and it will be interesting to see if his suitors are willing to give him an escape route out of the London club.

There is no doubt that the 25-year-old has the talent to develop into a quality player but his move to the Premier League has just not worked out.

Perhaps a return to France would be ideal for the Ivorian at this stage of his career.

Nicolas Pepe played his best football with Lille before his move to Arsenal and a return to France could help him regain his form and confidence.
