Brighton 1-0 Tottenham: Mourinho’s team succumb to consecutive defeats in the Premier League

Brighton picked up a morale boosting 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League earlier tonight.

Leandro Trossard scored the only goal of the game for the Seagulls. Brighton are now up to 17th in the Premier League table having won two of their last three League games and they will fancy their chances of beating the drop if they continue to build on these performances.

Brighton started the game brightly and they were the better team in the first half.

They could have easily taken the lead through Pascal Gross who managed to hit the crossbar with his effort three minutes into the game.

The Brighton midfielder did well to set up Leandro Trossard for Brighton’s goal on the  17th minute. The Seagulls could have added to their advantage in the second half but Hugo Lloris produced a splendid save to deny Ben White on the 56th minute.

Tottenham decided to bring on Carlos Vinicius in the second half in order to add a cutting edge to their attack and the former Benfica player came close to scoring the equaliser.

Robert Sanchez did well to deny the Brazilian and then Aaron Connolly had the chance to wrap up the scoring for Brighton on the 84th minute.

Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld produced a last ditch clearance to deny Connolly.

Tonight’s defeat leaves the London club 6th in the Premier League table with 33 points and they will have to improve massively if they want to finish in the top four and secure Champions League qualification for the next season.

Jose Mourinho will be under tremendous pressure to turn his team’s form around especially after the backing he received during the summer transfer window.
