Brighton 1-3 Chelsea Timo Werner's injury the only concern for impressive Blues

Chelsea picked up a 3-1 win over Brighton in their Premier League opener earlier today.

Goals from Jorginho, Reece James and Kurt Zouma gave the Blues a well deserved win away from home.

New signings Timo Werner and Kai Havertz showed their quality in flashes and the Chelsea fans will be relatively pleased with what they have seen today.

The German striker help Chelsea score the opening goal by winning a penalty and midfielder Jorginho converted from the spot.

Brighton equalised through Leandro Trossard early on in the second half. However, Chelsea managed to secure their lead two minutes later when Reece James fired home from 30 yards.

The Chelsea defender found the top corner with a thumping effort. Chelsea doubled their lead through Kurt Zouma ten minutes later.

Brighton had their moments to equalise but the home side failed to convert their chances.

Despite the defeat Brighton were relatively impressive today and the fans will be impressed with their team’s performance against the Blues.

The only worry for the home side is that Adam Lallana has picked up an injury and it will be interesting to see if the new summer signing can return to action soon.

The former Liverpool midfielder was quite impressive in the first half for Brighton and he seems to have added a new dimension to their attack.

Meanwhile, Timo Werner hurt his knee as well but the Chelsea striker is expected to be fit for the next game.
